Professional Development Programs for Educators
The Teachers' Center currently provides the following Professional Development Programs for Educators:
Civic Reflections: Picturing America and the Changing Face of American Democracy
This professional development program for teachers is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Central to the Civic Reflections project is the 1-day teacher professional development to be held at the Deerfield Teachers' Center on July 18, 2012. For information about the program click here. July, 2012, the Deerfield Teachers' Center is offering six full-day teacher
professional development workshops.

Location: All workshops will take place in Old Deerfield at the Deerfield Teachers' Center, Memorial Hall Museum, and/or the Indian House Memorial Children's Museum.

PDPs: All participants will receive PDPs.
All six workshops address both Massachusetts state standards and the new Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts, including literacy in History/Social Studies. Enjoy hands-on, collaborative activities while earning PDPs and learning how to bring these engaging literacy-building strategies into your classroom.
Summer Book Groups
Summer is the perfect time to read books.
Join a book group or two at the Deerfield Teachers' Center and enjoy not
only the book, but also lively discussion about it and using it in your
classroom. And you earn PDPs. Click here

After-school Workshops
After-school workshops at the Deerfield Teachers' Center are presented throughout the school year. Workshops offer the opportunity to explore a wide range of topics, bringing together 1) specific history content as the primary focus; 2) modeling of active learning instruction using primary sources; 3) the use of high quality Web site resources to support content learning; and 4) materials and strategies for classroom integration.
